Financial Arrangements on Divorce

The English court has a broad discretion to order the division of assets on divorce; financial remedies is not an area where a mathematical formula can be applied and the practical experience of matrimonial lawyers in dealing with the Family Division of the High Court counts for a great deal. Roger Cobden-Ramsay has over 30 years’ experience in his fields, and Kathryn Peat has as many years’ experience and for 17 years has held a part-time judicial post, currently as a Recorder on the South-Eastern circuit sitting in Family (finance) and public law and private law children matters. She is also a trained collaborative lawyer.

We act for clients in a wide range of circumstances, from the most amicable to the most acrimonious, helping them decide whether their best interests are served by settling through negotiation out of court or by court proceedings. We advise client’s in relation to all kinds of assets including family homes, international assets, trusts, businesses and pensions. In all cases, our primary aim is to achieve the result the client wants at the least possible cost, both emotional and financial. It is important to us that we act for our clients in a style and at a pace which suits each individual.

We are also experienced in handling enforcement proceedings, if they should prove necessary.
